A Very Roller Christmas

Here’s a painting from 1987 that artist Donald Roller Wilson is apparently putting up for sale, probably at a price only Carrie Fisher could afford. It’s Brenda’s house. You want it, you want it…

The caption, as always, makes it even better:

BRENDA’S HOUSE AT BRENDA’S NUT FARM…LOCATED IN THE STATE OF MIND…BEFORE THE STATE OF MIND WAS NAMED, BUT WITH THE STATE BEING WHERE IT IS, THEN AND NOW…JUST NOT YET IDENTIFIED…

THEN, AROUND 1938…MANY YEARS FOLLOWING THE BIRTH OF CHRIST – ONE OF MANY SONS OF GOD (WHOEVER HE MAY HAVE BEEN / NOT HAVE BEEN / OR BE)…

FIRST NIGHT,  A FEW DAYS PRIOR TO THE NIGHT BEFORE CHRISTMAS, AND WITH THE CHILDREN NOT ALL THROUGH THE HOUSE, BUT UNDER THE FRONT PORCH SPINNING THEIR TOPS…LISTENING THROUGH CRACKS IN THE FLOOR TO THEIR PRETEND MOTHER, BRENDA…

UPSTAIRS, SPEAKING TO HERSELF CONCERNING IF HER BEEF FUTURES  WOULD HOLD…AND WITH THE ANSWER BEING RIGHT ABOVE HER MIND ALL  ALONG…AND, A KOSHER ONE, AT THAT…

Thanks for introducing me to Donald’s stuff, Hank. I don’t think I’ve seen a better integration of artwork and text since
the Kent edition of Moby Dick.
